One of Googan's flagship translation projects is translating the magazines of the Human Rights Commission of Saudi Arabia from Arabic into English and French. These magazines address an international readership of organisations, embassies, researchers and media, so they required a standard befitting a government body: precise human-rights and diplomatic terminology, sound journalistic style, and consistency across issues.
What Googan delivered
- English translation of Rights magazine, from Issue 3 (March–April 2014) to Issue 8 (March–April 2015).
- French translation of the magazine (Houqouq), including Issue 4 (January 2015).
- The English edition of Basharr, a quarterly magazine on combating human trafficking, Issue 1 (January 2015).
- Consistent terminology and official forms of names of bodies and officials across all issues.
